TÓM TẮT/SYNOPSIS:
Vào một buổi sáng mùa đông ẩm ướt, gia đình Chi tụ họp để tiễn đưa người chị gái qua đời sau thời gian dài chống chọi với bệnh ung thư vú. Giữa làn khói hương và tiếng tụng kinh, những mảnh ký ức về đức tin, sự hoài nghi và tình thương giữa hai chị em lần lượt hiện về. Khi nghi lễ Phật giáo diễn ra, ranh giới giữa hồi ức và hiện tại dần nhòa đi, khiến Chi lặng lẽ đối diện với niềm tin, nỗi đau mất mát và sự tiếp nối của cuộc sống. Trong khoảng lặng sau đó, cô như trôi giữa thể xác và tâm linh, nơi tình yêu và mất mát đan xen, hé mở một khả năng hòa giải mong manh sau cái chết.
On a damp winter morning, Chi’s family gathers for her elder sister’s funeral after her long battle with breast cancer. Amid incense smoke and the echo of chants, fragments of memory resurface-moments of faith, doubt, and tenderness once shared between the two sisters. As the Buddhist ceremony unfolds, the boundary between reminiscence and present begins to blur, drawing Chi into a quiet confrontation with the weight of belief, grief, and continuation. In the stillness that follows, she drifts between body and spirit, where love and loss intertwine-a faint possibility of reconciliation in the wake of death.
ĐẠO DIỄN/DIRECTOR’S BIOGRAPHY:
Phan Hạnh Nguyên (sinh năm 1997) là nhà làm phim đến từ Hà Nội. Chị tốt nghiệp chuyên ngành Nghiên cứu Điện ảnh và Truyền thông tại Gettysburg College năm 2019, đồng thời có thời gian học tập, đào tạo làm phim tại Hoa Kỳ và Nhật Bản. Các tác phẩm của chị khai thác ký ức, mất mát và sự mong manh của đời sống con người. Phim ngắn tiêu biểu gồm An Unfinished Portrait (2023), In a Blink of an Eye (2024) – được tuyển chọn tại Liên hoan phim quốc tế Dili năm 2025 và My Sister’s Everlasting Garden (2025).
Phan Hạnh Nguyên (born in 1997) is a filmmaker from Hanoi, Vietnam. She graduated in Cinema & Media Studies from Gettysburg College in 2019 and undertook filmmaking training in the United States and Japan. Her films explore memory, loss, and the fragile aspects of human experience, with a Vietnamese-rooted sensibility. Her short films include An Unfinished Portrait (2023), In a Blink of an Eye (2024), an official selection of the 2025 Dili International Film Festival, and My Sister’s Everlasting Garden (2025).
