TÓM TẮT/SYNOPSIS:
Bộ phim tài liệu mang tính tiểu luận khám phá cuộc sống của những người chọn sống trên thuyền tại Bồ Đào Nha, nơi sự trôi dạt trở thành một cách cư ngụ và mái nhà vừa có chốn neo đậu, vừa luôn dịch chuyển. Khởi đầu từ trải nghiệm lần đầu sống trên thuyền của chính đạo diễn, bộ phim dẫn dắt người xem qua những cuộc gặp gỡ với những người đàn ông sống đơn độc, những người mơ mộng và những người đã vượt qua nghịch cảnh, coi mặt nước là nhà.
Once Upon A Time in A Boat is an essay documentary exploring the lives of those who dwell on boats in Portugal-where drifting becomes a way of dwelling, and home is both rooted and adrift. Beginning with the filmmaker’s own experience of living on a boat for the first time, the film drifts through encounters with solitary men, dreamers, and survivors who have turned the water into their home.
ĐẠO DIỄN/DIRECTOR’S BIOGRAPHY:
Phạm Hoàng Minh Thy là nhà làm phim Việt Nam, tốt nghiệp cử nhân Báo chí và thạc sĩ Lý luận, Phê bình điện ảnh tại Việt Nam. Cô tiếp tục hoàn thành chương trình thạc sĩ Đạo diễn phim tài liệu DocNomads (Erasmus Mundus), học tập tại Bồ Đào Nha, Hungary và Bỉ. Phim ngắn đầu tay The Graduation of Edison được lựa chọn tham dự Liên hoan phim quốc tế Singapore; phim ngắn tiếp theo Live in Cloud-Cuckoo Land ra mắt tại Liên hoan phim Venice.
Pham Hoang Minh Thy is a Vietnamese filmmaker with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and a master’s degree in Film Theory and Criticism from Vietnam. She also earned an MA in Documentary Film Directing through the Erasmus Mundus DocNomads programme across Portugal, Hungary and Belgium. Her debut short film The Graduation of Edison was selected for the Singapore International Film Festival, while her subsequent short Live in Cloud-Cuckoo Land premiered at the Venice Film Festival.
