Synopsis:
In a modest family of a fishing village, the father of the Kadyr family dies. He is drowned on the boat of the local wastrel Makosh, who threatens the wife of the deceased that if they do not repay the debt for the sunken ship, he will demand the return of the debt at the funeral prayer of Janaz Namaz.
The calculating and cold-minded widow Sarah tries to find a way out of the situation – she wants to save the face of the family and the honor of her late husband, but her plans fall apart with the arrival of Kadyr’s brother.
The aged and noble Shokan is the richest and most influential man in the village. He wants to marry the eldest daughter of Kadyr, 15-year-old beauty Zere. Sarah sells him the boat of her late husband to cover the debt to Makosh, but with the help of gossips, jealousy, and envy the boat drowned along with the money.
Director’s biography:
Dauren Kamshibayev graduated from the New York Film Academy and studied Screenwriting at UCLA. He studied scriptwriting and directing at Intrography and is a founder/advisor at TFS.
He started making films in 2013 and is known for Mangiliq (2015), Zere (2021) and Segiz (2021)
