Synopsis:
The film portrays the final days in Hanoi before the outbreak of the nationwide war of resistance (December 19, 1946); it captures the historical moments of the capital as it faced an impending war, which neither the people nor the Revolutionary Government of the newly-established Democratic Republic of Vietnam had desired.
Awards:
One of four films awarded the Ho Chi Minh Award for Literature and Arts (2007). At the 12th Vietnam Film Festival (1999), the film won the following awards: Silver Lotus Award for Best Feature Film; Best Director Award; Best Cinematography Award; Best Music Award.
Director’s biography:
People’s Artist, Director Dang Nhat Minh was born in 1938 in Hue. He began his filmmaking career as a documentary filmmaker in 1965 and transitioned to feature films in 1978. His career spans more than half a century, achieving remarkable success at both Vietnamese and international film festivals. He also served as the President of the Vietnam Cinema Association from 1989 to 2000.
