Synopsis:
Set against the backdrop of the southwestern region of Vietnam in modern times, the film explores the widening generational gap as society changes. It becomes increasingly important to show care, empathy, and understanding toward each other, especially for the elderly, so they no longer feel lonely and lost in their own homes. The Old Lady Goes Backpacking is, in essence, a journey and a dream of the main character, reflecting a desire present in all of us, including the elderly, who wish to be loved and to be themselves.
Director’s biography:
Director Tran Chi Thanh was born in 1974. He is known to audiences through feature films, documentaries, reports, and sitcoms. He has won awards at the National Television Festival (Silver Award), the Golden Kite Awards 2014 from the Vietnam Cinema Association (Certificate of Merit), and the 20th Vietnam Film Festival in 2017 (Certificate of Merit).
