Synopsis:
A 6-year-old mute boy and his mother attend a pre-school health screening. As the boy is being assessed by a speech therapist, he acts differently, which complicates the situation.
Director’s biography:
Sonia K. Hadad, born in 1989, is an Iranian writer and director. She studied Film and Media Arts (M.F.A.) at Emerson College in Boston. In 2009, she completed her Bachelor’s degree in dramatic literature from Azad University of Art and Architecture. She moved to the U.S. in 2013 to continue her education and began making short films. In her most recent works, Sonia strives to explore the inner lives of individuals, social and personal issues faced by women, feelings of shame, and struggles with their deepest fears through various art forms and media. Her latest film, Exam (2019), premiered at the Toronto Film Festival.
