Closing speech by Vietnam Cinema Department’s Director General Vi Kien Thanh at the closing and awards ceremony, the 6th Ha Noi International Film Festival
Distinguished delegates, guests, Vietnamese and international artists. Ladies and Gentlemen!
Taking place from 8-12 November 2022 with numerous exciting and intriguing activities, the 6th Ha Noi International Film Festival has left a deep impression on Vietnamese and international artists, creating a sensational atmosphere for audiences in Ha Noi.
With the slogan “Cinema for Humanity, Adaptability and Development”, the 6th Ha Noi International Film Festival has become a significant event, especially when international and Vietnamese cinema have been in recovery after two years suffering severe impacts of COVID-19. The Film Festival has confirmed its stature and brand since it was founded in 2010 on the occasion of the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long – Ha Noi.
After six seasons, Ha Noi International Film Festival has continued to assert itself as a young, dynamic and full of energy film festival, more and more professionally organized, contributing to the promotion of Vietnamese cinema as well as bringing the world cinema to Vietnamese audiences.
Until now, Ha Noi International Film Festival has gradually achieved its position in the development of Vietnamese cinema, increasingly improved in its programs and scale, at the same time established its own characteristics of a film festival taking place in Ha Noi, the capital city of a thousand years of civilization and culture.
Through the 6th Ha Noi International Film Festival, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Ha Noi People’s Committee have made great effort to organize an international cinema event with the participation of over 800 Vietnamese and international delegates, 123 films from 56 countries and territories screened in five days of the festival as well as other activities including conferences, exhibition, film project market, outdoor film screening, film stars meet-and-greet, cultural visits to Ha Noi and enjoying Bac Ninh’s Quan Ho Folk songs etc.
The Film Festival’s Organizing Committee has been fully aware of the responsibilities as the host country to ensure the safety and prevention of Covid-19, offering green, clean and beautiful landscapes of a friendly and hospitable Ha Noi, the UNESCO’s creative city, contributing to the vivid, dynamic and innovative atmosphere of Viet Nam’s capital.
On behalf of the 6th Ha Noi International Film Festival’s Organizing Committee, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to leaders of the Party, State, National Assembly, Central Party’s Commission for Communication and Education, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Ha Noi People’s Committee, Bac Ninh People’s Committee as well as other ministries and relevant agencies for their special support for the Film Festival. We also highly appreciate your presence at the film festival’s activities, directing and encouraging the Organizing Committee to fully perform our mission in the 6th Ha Noi International Film Festival, a cultural event marking the adaptability and development of Vietnamese and international cinema post Covid-19 pandemic.
