Synopsis:
The film recreates the childhood of President Hồ Chí Minh when he was still a young boy named Nguyễn Sinh Cung, enduring a difficult upbringing. His father, a poor Confucian scholar, was often away from home teaching, while his mother, a hardworking and devoted woman, suffered many hardships due to the family’s poverty and the country’s colonial subjugation.
Director’s biography:
Ho Ngoc Xum was born in 1955 in Phu Tan, An Giang, Vietnam. He graduated in directing from the Hanoi Academy of Theatre and Cinema. After graduation, he worked at the Liberation Film Studio (now Liberation Film Joint Stock Company). Over his 40-year career, his name has been associated with films rich in humanistic values and Southern Vietnamese culture.
