Synopsis:
A young girl stays with her estranged grandparents in the city while she auditions for a performance group. When the family, who have not met for a long time, gather to celebrate her acceptance into the group, an ugly family secret emerges, and the family gathering ends with a horrifying tragedy.
Director’s biography:
Filmmaker Helena Stefánsdottir (Iceland) is based in Reykjavík where she runs her own film production company Wonderland Films. Her background in dance influences her work as an experimental film director and she holds a MFA in video art from the University of Gothenburg. As a freelance video artist, Stefánsdottir has supported the biggest theatres in Reykjavík, the opera and smaller independent theatre companies. Natatorium (2024), selected for IFFR 2024, is her debut feature film.
