To Honor the outstanding cinematographic works at the Hanoi International Film Festival

The Hanoi International Film Festival will take place from October 27th to 31st 2018 with the participation of more than 500 feature films, documentaries, science and animation of nearly 50 countries and territories all over the world.

Themed "Cinema: Integration and Sustainable Development", this year’s Festival honors outstanding cinematographic works with high artistic and humanitarian value and creativity, while also encouraging new movie talents.
At the same time, the Festival promotes the spirit of humanity and cooperation between filmmakers, delegates, guests for the development of cinema. This is also an opportunity to introduce the outstanding works to the Vietnamese audiences.

The festival will contribute to creat new vitality and motivation for Vietnamese cinema to develop. To make Hanoi International Film Festival tobe a prestigious film festival regional and international in the future not only creates opportunities to expand the Vietnamese film market but also promotes the image of Vietnam as a beautiful country... said Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Vuong Duy Bien.
The symbol of crane egrets on the Dong Son drum’s surface of the festival depicts the ethnicity as well as the development and integration of Vietnamese cinema.
After four seasons, the festival has positioned itself as a young but increasingly prestigious, professional film festival, with a high and far flying capacity in the international cinema sky.
In the framework of the press conference introducing the Hanoi International Film Festival on August 23rd, Ms Ngo Phuong Lan - Director of the Cinema Department said “the new feature of the festival this year is that the selection of films that have never competed in international film festivals in Asia”.
The Organization Committee will select more Vietnam films to attend programs, categories of the festival. The new film program of Vietnamese cinema introduces typical feature films, diverse in style and theme since the Fourth International Film Festival. In addition, feature films in the Vietnam feature film program will have the chance to be voted as "Most Favorite feature film"...

Another highlight of this year's festival is that the festival also has attractive film programs such as: the Panorama Program; Movie in focus program; Polish cinema in focus; Iran film selection program; Vietnamese film program.
Besides, there are the programs which are familiar to the public in many festivals such as the Young Talents Campus of HANIFF 2018; Film project market; Exhibit "Filming location in Vietnam". This year, the seminar with themes: "Country in focus: Polish Cinema" and “Successful international experience of Iranian Cinema” will be held for the first time.
The Organizing Committee said that the films will be screened at the National Cinema Center, Kim Dong Cinema, CGV Vincom Center, BHD Star Vincom Cinema. Some of the world's best film attend in the festival are also shown to journalists during the festival at the National Cinema Center.
The Organizing Committee will honor the following awards: Best Long Film; Best Short Film; Best Feature Film Director; Best Actor; Best Actress; Young director of short films category. Besides, there are also the jury prize and the most popular Vietnamese film award.
Mr. To Van Dong - Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports said that the festival is one of the typical cultural activities of Hanoi this year. The Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports has worked closely with relevant departments and agencies to prepare and organize the festival successfully. Thereby, contributing to build the brand of Hanoi International Film Festival in particular, Hanoi tourism brand in general.
It is expected that the opening and the closing and awards ceremonies will be held at the Hanoi Friendship Cultural Palace, which will be broadcast live on October 27th on VTV2 and October 31st on VTV1.
