Haniff 2016: audiences excited with Vietnamese film!

For some people working in the cinema field or the audience who fascinated in film like researchers, Haniff is an opportunity to enjoy t he foreign works which was highly appreciated by critics and quite limited released as I, Daniel Blake, directed by Ken Loach, Cemetery of Splendour by Apichatpong, Marguerite by Xavier Giannoli, Remember by Atom Egoyan or Louder Than Bombs by Joachim Trier... Besides, The mass audience often choose Vietnamese movies or Vietnamese context film as Indochine. Survey 2 days on Nov 1 st and 2nd , all the tickets have been delivered.

At the National Cinema Centre, Ms Hoang Thi Thanh Huyen – the tickets curator shared that tickets are issued 1-2 days prior and within two days of Oct 31 st and Nov 1 th , all the tickets here have been handed out to the audience. Each audience who gets as much as 1 pair of tickets each film and if they go in pair, they can get 2 pairs/ 2 films. Their names, phone numbers and number of tickets are all recorded for a specific metric. Most of the audience to take the tickets are young people, who know the information through facebook of the NCC, friends sharing as well as theatre’s information. Some older audience shared that their friends, relatives in cinema industry share information to them. The majority of older people choose to watch foreign films.

According to Huyen and I myself (writer) witnessed at ticketing desks, most young viewers asked about familiar Vietnamese films as I saw the yellow flowers on green grass (Tôi thấy hoa vàng trên cỏ xanh), Jackpots Trúng số, Tam Cam: The Untold Story Tấm Cám: Chuyện chưa kể, Yen’s life Cuộc đời của Yến... and they also feel pity for seeing no tickets to see Indochine - a famous film of Director Régis Wargnier who won the Academy Award with the Vietnamese context and story, released in 1993. Pham Thi Hong Nhung and Truong Thi Khanh Hoa – 3 rd year students of The Foreign Languages ​​University shared, they really want to see Indochine, but out of tickets. This is the 2nd time they come to get movie tickets. On their hands are 4 tickets of Jackpots (Vietnam), Tamdem (Philippines), Marguerite (France) and Wastelands (Chile) but they are both wondering What movies is worth seeing to choose.

Conversely, at CGV Nguyen Chi Thanh, where is considered 1 of 2 places bustling with audiences, Mr Ho Chi Hai - an audience getting movie tickets, had to research very carefully all the films before viewing on the internet through showtimes printed ticketing desks. Eg: Louder Than Bombs, Norway was selected. He reveals that he will go around the other locations to try to see every movie he likes.

According to the survey in two theaters National Cinema Center and CGV Vincom Nguyen Chi Thanh, in the first two days, the number of viewers reached 50-60% of the seats in the theater. Votes were delivered prior and collected 100% after the film screening. No cases of  invalid votes.
